NAME: Pyrrha Nikos
AGE: 17
CANON: RWBY
CANON HISTORY: Do you believe in destiny?
CANON PERSONALITY:
There is always that one person that acts as a model of goodness. The kind of person you probably want to aspire to be. Pyrrha is that person.
From a moment's glance it's easy to see Pyrrha walks with the certainty and grace of a far more seasoned huntress. Her stride is full of purpose, and she seems to exude confidence wherever she goes. Even among the many skilled students of Beacon, she stands out in terms of raw talent as an exceptional individual. She's a wise and strategic minded individual, won multiple regional tournaments, even had her face on the cover of a cereal box because of her achievements. In battle Pyrrha thrives and flows, to the point that even she's admitted to feeling blessed with this natural talent.
...And of course, it's underneath this confidence in her fighting skills that those closer to her will find a lack of confidence in her social life. For as popular and well-known in the hunter world as she is, Pyrrha is surprisingly humble about her achievements, gracious when they're brought up even if she sometimes doesn't enjoy the attention it brings her. Still, she grows more sociable and relaxed as time goes on, due to getting to know the rest of team JNPR and RWBY and finally gaining some friends. It's this very reason, this lack of confidence, that causes her to fall for Jaune Arc, as he was the first to look past her popularity and see her as just another person. For these reasons, and the fact she can see good in even Jaune, she is content to take a step back and let their leader find his own way, quietly chiming in with help and advice when asked.
Even still, some parts of Pyrrha's humble personality hold her back. Her reputation precedes her, and honestly, she doesn't enjoy it. After so long of being isolated due to others being intimidated by her achievements, she's developed a shy personality that makes her kind of a doormat. Not to mention that Pyrrha's romantic ventures are almost non-existent, on account of her tendency to hold back her own feelings to help others instead. This gets particularly bad for her when she starts giving Jaune romance advice on how he can pick up Weiss... while she's been trying to do the same with him.
But pick a fight with Pyrrha, and see what happens. Again, as both a huntress in training and even an example of what the teachers at Beacon want students to become, Pyrrha doesn't stand for those that would rather cause trouble, either on large or small scales. Those that are racist to the Faunus in and around Beacon get zero sympathy from Pyrrha, and she's all too happy to teach some bullies a lesson if they don't see reason at first.
This leads to one of Pyrrha's biggest flaws, and ultimately the one that costs her dearly: her heroic selflessness. As a huntress in training, one of Pyrrha's life-long goals for her future is to be a hero to the people. To protect the weak and even save the world is something she seems to almost long for, since it would definitely be putting her skills to good use. It's part of why she ultimately agrees to Ozpin's dangerous plan to transfer the maiden powers to her. When that fails, Pyrrha rushes off to fight Cinder single-handedly but not before making sure Jaune is alright. Ozpin told her she would only get in the way if she fought Cinder, and she knows that against such a strong foe she likely doesn't stand a chance. But since she has the means to try then, to her, it's worth the shot anyway.
Ultimately, Pyrrha's responsibilities weigh more heavily on her then even she seems to know until it's too late. No matter how strong she is even Pyrrha is breakable, as her stunned reaction to Penny's death proved. She's a strong, kindhearted individual, but even the star student has limits to the expectations she can handle.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: For a world as full of tough fighters as Remnant, Pyrrha has been lauded as one of the best, at least among her peers. And it isn't hard to see why, as Pyrrha's skills seem to fall into three categories: her aura, her semblance, and her natural talent.
- Aura: In Remnant, people can use the manifestation of their very souls as a sort of physical shield that protects the person from any lasting harm. All living beings with a soul can manifest aura with a little training, and it's a major part of how hunters and huntresses fight. Although a person's aura can be broken if they sustain enough damage, meaning any injuries you get after that will be much worse.
- Semblance: Ever Hunter or Huntress has a special ability exclusive to themselves. Pyrrha's semblance is polarity which grants her the power to manipulate metal objects, including some non-magnetic metals like aluminum. This allows her to lift objects possibly hundreds of pounds heavier then her and throw them at high speeds. This is a skill Pyrrha normally uses to return her spear and shield to her hands if she loses them. It also plays into some of her fights, where she subtlety uses it to deflect attacks and gain advantage.
- Weapons/Skill: As previously said, Pyrrha has trained hard for her way of life. Being both very physically fit, and mentally sharp as a scythe, Pyrrha is a force to be reckoned with even without her semblance. In combat, Pyrrha's weapons of choice are a javelin and shield called Miló and Akoúo̱ respectively, Miló being able to transform through the use of Dust into a short range xiphos, and a long range rifle. And while Akoúo̱ can be used to deflect attacks, Pyrrha also throws it Captain America style at her enemies, using her semblance to bring it back to her hand. Aside from those things, Pyrrha is quite effective at hand-to-hand combat, though she prefers to use her legs rather then her fists.

CHARACTER: AU SECTION
AU NAME: Victoria Nichols
AU AGE: 20
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: Besides having shoulder length hair, glasses, and lacking the muscular physique the original Pyrrha has, Victoria is very much the mirror image of Pyrrha.
AU NAME: Victoria Nichols
AU AGE: 20
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: Besides having shoulder length hair, glasses, and lacking the muscular physique the original Pyrrha has, Victoria is very much the mirror image of Pyrrha.
AU HISTORY:
- Born into a middle class family on the plains up in Canada. Her mother is a doctor, her father is a police officer, and she's an only child.
- Descended from Greek immigrants on her mother's side, her mother told her at a young age about how they escaped to the country during the war and stayed there. It sparked an interest in young Victoria, to learn more about her heritage, which eventually lead to her fascination with the legends.
- Both her parents have had an active role in her life and supported her unconditionally. Victoria's more or less the way she is because of them. Her mother would tell her stories about Greece, and her father made a point of trying to get her to be more of an outdoors person with sports and other activities. It didn't change much and eventually fell through.
- On the small number of vacations she's been on growing up, her parents took her to several museums, seeing as they knew about her growing interest in history.
- Victoria graduated high school with average grades. Due to her growing interest in the idea, she chose to major in history, leaning towards the parts centered around mythology.
- It was her idea to take part in the foreign exchange program, as she knew coming to Recolle would give her an amazing chance to learn and possibly help her towards her major. And after a lengthy discussion over it with her parents, she won out.
- She currently stays with a host family composed of a mother and a young girl, having set up in a guest room for a couple months now.
- As a kid, Victoria tried to take part in many kinds of sports, though she never did well in any of them. She lost a couple of baby teeth that way though, but altogether she's decided to stay away from most sports by now.
- She has a couple of friends from her childhood she still keeps in contact with while she's in Recolle, friends her age that she'd kept in contact with out of courtesy, but they've been drifting apart due to different interests.
- Her family still keeps in contact too, obviously. Possibly too much to Victoria's taste. It's a sign they care, but she'd rather not get daily phone calls in the evening.
- Currently attends Recolle university, her tuition paid in part by her parents, with the rest Victoria vowed to pay off on her own. She's currently trying to look for work in between classes.
AU PERSONALITY: Victoria is... kind of a loser.
But who is she, exactly? Well, she's a good person at heart, at least, definitely polite if she ever runs into a passing conversation, though headlong talks with people will leave her running out of things to say fast, prompting either an apology or a quick exit. There are times the usual stereotype of Canadians being apologetic and friendly pop up, and Victoria tries her best to be polite about it, even as she feels that comparison is getting old. To her friends, how ever many there are, and to those she cares about, she is definitely more comfortable shooting the breeze with folks she knows then those she's just met.
Otherwise, she can be quite quiet while she's busy, maybe even so lost in her focus that she simply blocks the rest of the world out while she works. it's not that she simply doesn't want to speak out, no it's far from that. Avoiding large amounts of people and conversations leaves more time for studying academics and fumbling her way through essays, not to mention avoid the unwanted stress. But she isn't so introverted she just wouldn't want to bother during her stay in this city. Simply put, she doesn't really know how to start opening up, which somewhat concerns her, honestly. So she mostly just wants to believe that there's a perfect time where she can just open up to someone and everything will go well for her.
Not to mention that Victoria's tastes are rather... different from some others. Namely, she's somewhat of a nerd, with her tastes scattered among classic mythology, video games, and anime. At least when she's alone, she can enjoy tearing into one more anime about gender swapped historical figures. What doesn't help Victoria are the binge watches she sometimes does, earning her a lack of sleep and work that still needs to be done. This somewhat extends to her academic interests too.
She dreams about myths- daydreams about it as a matter of fact, thinking about stories of brilliant hero and legends when she really should be working instead. The ideals and heroics they go through are nothing short of amazing to her, even if they're not real they still stand for something important. And more then anything Victoria wants to do something great. It's somewhat of a kiddy dream, but to that end she likes to be optimistic about the future. It's all something she'd like to be one day, somehow. Both of her parents are kinds of heroes in her own mind, with their promise to help others. Perhaps if she works hard enough, she can be something like that too.
Her academic studies are definitely important to Victoria. This means she isn't very active either, it's hard to be when she gave up on sports back in grade school due to a combination of clumsiness and lack of skill that cost her no small amount of dignity and baby teeth. Due to these past experiences, Victoria hasn't given much thought to any sports in years, besides one particular dream of hers that she prefers to keep a secret: eventually trying to make it onto the Olympic team. For what, well, she hasn't thought that far ahead in her dreams. So she's rather lazy now, though not entirely out of shape. Although, she's made a concentrated effort to take up gymnastics while in Recolle, having found a place within walking/bus distance. At the very least, she fully intends to try and improve on her balance, clumsiness be dammed.
Parts of Victoria's living expenses have been paid for by her parents, who naturally wanted to see their daughter off with the best of luck. another part of it comes from her host family, as per arrangements. Victoria isn't exactly strapped for cash, and will only really throw money in the direction of some anime DVDs or a book or two. It also doesn't stop her from planning to search for a proper job... eventually. Possible places to stay on her own also weigh on Victoria's mind at times. It's all a matter of her figuring out when and if she can do that.
That's the keyword in all of this, Victoria tries. Her determination is stronger then she even credits it for. Going to the University to pursue her major was a conscious choice for her. First it was part of her desire to learn more about the many mythical heroes she had become so fascinated in with her books. The second part comes with the realization that this could be a great start to something - some way Victoria can prove she can stand on her own two feet, if not to her parents, then to herself.
Similar to the original Pyrrha Nikos, Victoria shares her general optimism, her determined nature, and even a good amount of her goodnatured attitude. Though there is a glaring point where she differs from her original incarnation; Where as Pyrrha would shy away from her stardom if she could, Victoria dreams of having that sort of recognition, at least for a little while. And to a lesser extent, Victoria will tend to act a fair bit dorkier then Pyrrha allowed herself to act due to her professionalism.
